Library

Prospect is an Accelerated Reader school. Accelerated Reader is a program that assigns a Lexile level by matching children to books of their age, interest and their ability to read. It challenges students at the right level, and helps to set goals in student’s reading. Students can check out Reading Counts books at the Prospect Library and the Public Library. After reading their book, students can take a Reading Counts Test on the computer in their classroom or in the library. Students in 1st – 6th grade are encouraged to participate in as much independent/leisure time reading as possible. We encourage students to visit the Public Library with their parents, grandparents or older siblings. We also encourage you to read daily with your children.

Lost or Damaged Textbooks or Library Books:

Each student is responsible for books checked out to them.  If at any time a book is lost or damaged, students will be asked to pay for replacing it.  The librarian will contact parents with a bill if this occurs. Refer to the Library Policy.
