Principal's Message

I am honored to be serving as the principal of Nohl Canyon for the 2025-26 school year!

I’d like to share with you a little background information about myself. I grew up in Orange and actually attended Orange Unified Schools before graduating high school from Orange Lutheran High School. I went to college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for my undergraduate degree and credential program and then earned both of my masters degrees in Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Leadership from Cal State Fullerton.

As an educator, I have been dedicated to serving the students of Orange Unified for more than 17 years. I have taught both elementary and middle school students, and worked at the district office as a Teacher on Special Assignment for STEM & Arts Integration and as Coordinator of K-12 Innovation & Instructional Design. At the district office I oversaw many programs including elementary visual & performing arts, AVID, GATE, and science. It will be wonderful seeing these programs in action in our classrooms here at Nohl Canyon! Additionally, I feel so fortunate that I was able to spend the last five years as principal, right down the street at Serrano. I will take with me the many lessons I learned and am excited to take on this new challenge at Nohl.

As well as an educator, I am also a mom. My husband and I have three elementary-aged children. Being a mom of three and leader of an elementary school can be pretty busy, but I wouldn’t want it any other way and I love how I have the opportunity to share my skills and passion as an educational leader at Nohl Canyon.

I am blessed to be coming into a new role where I know I have incredible support from our community and dedicated teachers and staff. This next year, we remain committed to providing a rich and welcoming learning environment for all of our students.

As we head into the school year, please know that it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors feel welcome here! This enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, collaborative, and nurturing environment. My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.

I am looking forward to an amazing school year!

Best,

Laura Kresl, Principal
