The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) provides funding for afterschool and summer school enrichment programs for transitional kindergarten through sixth grade.

“Expanded learning” means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. It is the intent of the legislature that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year.

With the help of the ELO-P funds, Camp Fire is able to provide structured enrichment activities such as baile folklorico, pep squad, Lego robotics, drones as well as create partnerships with programs such as “AYA: Action Youth America”. AYA provides a unique program that involves sports, STEM activities and homework support. ELO-P also provides assistance through teachers by providing tutoring to students in need of extra support in their academic courses as well as provide leadership skills through student council.

Camp Fire’s promise is to allow young people to shape the world. In Camp Fire we provide the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice, and discover who they are. In Camp Fire, it begins now.
