Acting Superintendent Gonzalez

Orange Unified School District is pleased to announce that the Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Ernest “Ernie” Gonzalez to the position of acting superintendent at its meeting on March 2. 

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve the organization in this new role,” said Gonzalez. “I look forward to contributing to the team as we push for greater levels of success within the District.” 

Gonzalez previously served the District as executive director and then assistant superintendent, both in Human Resources. Prior to his appointment to the Human Resources office, Gonzalez served for five years as Orange High School’s principal. He came to Orange Unified after serving as an administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and as a teacher, activities director, and project coordinator in Los Angeles County. He holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University and a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities and History from the University of San Diego. He also holds an Administrative Services Credential, Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science with CLAD, and completed the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Personnel Academy.  

The Board of Education is currently engaging in a process to find a permanent superintendent.
