OUSD SIGNATURE ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
The goal of the Office of Innovation and Excellence is to help install signature programs at Orange Unified School District Schools-keeping our innovative EDGE. These programs will serve to attract students from inside and outside of district boundaries. Additionally, these signature programs will bring recognition to the students involved and increase student attendance.
Dual Immersion Programs
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) offers a continuum of international education through four challenging, high quality educational programmes to students aged 3 to 19.
Our programmes encourage both personal development and academic achievement challenging students to think critically, to ask the right questions and think across disciplines. An IB education also fosters diversity, curiosity and a healthy appetite for learning.

Verizon Innovative Learning
Verizon Innovative Learning to Augment Internet Access, Devices, and Technology Integration at Portola and Yorba Middle Schools
Orange Unified School District became the first school district in Orange County to join Verizon Innovative Learning, Verizon’s education initiative targeting Title I schools, which aims to address barriers to digital inclusion. In partnership with Digital Promise, Verizon Innovative Learning will provide the students and staff members at Portola and Yorba Middle Schools with free 1:1 devices, free internet access, and a technology-driven curriculum. In addition, Portola and Yorba will each receive extensive teacher training and support from a full-time coach to train teachers to effectively integrate technology into their lessons and enable students to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to build an innovative workforce of the future.
Yorba and Portola Middle Schools are among the 148 new schools joining Verizon Innovative Learning for the 2021-22 school year, bringing the program to more than 400 middle and high schools nationwide.
