Prequalification

In accordance with Public Contract Code section 20111.6, prime contractors and “MEP” subcontractors (as defined by this statute) must be prequalified for any project that involves a projected expenditure of $1 million or more and is using funds received pursuant to the Leroy F. Greene School Facilities Act of 1998 or any funds received, including funds reimbursed, from any future state school bond.

Prime contractors holding an A, B, C-4, C-7, C-10, C-16, C-20, C-34, C-36, C-38, C-42, C-43, or C-46 license and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) subcontractors holding a C-4, C-7, C-10, C-16, C-20, C-34, C-36, C-38, C-42, C-43, or C-46 license must be prequalified on projects requiring prequalification pursuant to Public Contract Code section 20111.6.

On projects requiring prequalification pursuant to Public Contract Code section 20111.6, the District must receive complete applications from prime contractors and MEP subcontractors at least ten (10) business days before the date fixed for the public opening of sealed bids or has not been prequalified for at least five (5) business days before that date.  These deadlines are the minimum number of days and may change, so bidders are instructed to carefully review the bid documents for each specific project.

The District may also require prequalification of bidders on projects pursuant to Public Contract Code section 20111.5.  On projects requiring prequalification pursuant to Public Contract Code section 20111.5, the District must receive complete applications from bidders at least five (5) calendar days before the date fixed for the public opening of sealed bids or has not been prequalified for at least one (1) calendar day before that date.  These deadlines are the minimum number of days and may change, so bidders are instructed to carefully review the bid documents for each specific project.
