Photo Slideshow

Shared Element: _School HP Hero Slideshow

  • Images are fed from Multimedia Manager
  • Crop images to the correct dimensions
    • 1440 px wide x 600 high
  • Navigate to Multimedia Manager and find the correct playlist and upload the images.
    • If updating a current playlist, you will need to add the new images to the playlist and remove the images you would like to no longer appear
  • Images do not need to have text. If you would like to add text to the image, this is added on each image in the description area.
    • Only normal text can be used. Heading 1-6 or other styles in the styles drop down cannot be used.
    • You can include a link by selecting the text you would like to link and follow the normal editor linking process.
  • To select the correct playlist, navigate to the homepage and turn on compose mode. You may need to refresh the page with "Compose" mode turned on to access the settings.
  • Hover over the slideshow area and click on the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of that element.
  • Select the correct playlist and hit save. Don't adjust any of the other settings in that element
  • Turn off compose mode and refresh the page to view the slideshow.
  • Publish the page if all looks well.

Video

Shared Element: _School HP Hero Video

  • Video is fed from Multimedia Manager. To add video, you will need to add the shared element mentioned above and delete the Hero Image Slideshow element from the page.
  • Navigate to Multimedia Manager and find/create a video playlist.
  • Upload the video
    • Video will need to process before you can see it on the page (usually takes a couple minutes).
  • Once the video has uploaded, navigate to the homepage and turn on compose mode. You may need to refresh the page with compose mode to see the settings. If the element was just added, you may need to orphan and edit the element.
    • DONT EDIT THE SHARED ELEMENT
  • Hover over the video element (gray colored bar, video won't show until compose mode is turned off) and click on the gear icon that appears in the upper right hand corner.
  • Select the playlist you would like to display. Don't adjust any of the other settings in the element.
  • Turn off compose mode and refresh the page to view the video.
  • Publish the page if it all looks well

Info Graphics

  • Must have 6 icons. No more or less.
  • Each icon and subtext is it's own element.
  • To update the icon, hover over the icon you would like to update and click on the gear icon for that element.
  • Expand the "Design" section.
  • In the Custom Class area, you will need to replace the last part of the class (replace icon-apple) with the icon you would like to appear. You will grab that class from the page listed above.
  • To update the text below the icon, you will place the copy into the Header Content area. You will then link that text to the correct page. Creating the link will make both the icon and the text a link.
  • Once the icons are updated, turn off compose mode and refresh the page.
  • Publish the page if it all looks well.

News & Calendar Options

Each school has the option of displaying News and Calendar OR a Calendar Slideshow.

Each homepage includes both options. The school needs to decide which option they would like to display. By default, the calendar slideshow is hidden. Whichever option you don't want, you will need to hover over that element and click the gear icon in the upper right hand corner, expand the "Design" section and add "hp-feature hide" into the Custom Class area. Remove that class from the option you would like to display.

IMPORTANT: Don't delete the element from the homepage.

News & Calendar Option

News:

  • To update the news you would like to display, hover over the news section and click the gear icon.
  • News is fed in through the Posts Module.
  • All news items should have a thumbnail to keep the homepage's looking the same. First news item is the only article that will show a thumbnail.
    • Recommended Thumbnail Size: 380 px wide x 235 px high (if images cannot be resized thumbnails should be a rectangle)
  • Expand the Content Filters section and select the correct board you would like to display
    • None of the other formatting settings needs to be adjusted to keep the approved design intact.
  • If you would like to have the news article open in a page rather than a pop up, expand the "Link To" section and select the page you would like it to open in.
    • The linked to page must have been setup correctly to display the article you clicked on. Work with your IT team to learn how to setup this page.
  • To update the "View More News" expand the "Design" section.
  • Update the link in the Footer Content area to go to a list of your news items.
  • Save element.

Calendar:

  • Hover over calendar and click the gear icon.
  • Select the calendar/s you would like to display. Don't adjust any of the formatting settings.
  • To update the "View All Events" link, expand the "Design" section, click the link and link this to a full calendar page.
  • Save Element
  • Once the news and calendar elements have been updated, turn off compose mode and refresh the page.
  • Publish the page if all looks well.

Calendar Slideshow:

  • Hover over calendar and click the gear icon.
  • Select the calendar/s you would like to display. Don't adjust any of the formatting settings.
  • To update the "View All Events" link, expand the "Design" section, click on the link and link this to a full calendar page.
  • Save Element
  • Turn off compose mode and refresh the page to view the update.
  • Publish the page if all looks well.

InfoGraphic Area

Background Image

  • Hover over the large background image and click the gear icon that appears in the upper right hand corner.
  • Expand the "Design" section and click browse for the Background Image area. Image must live in File Manager
    • Image Size: 1440 px wide x 570 px high
  • Save Element

InfoGraphic Panels

  • Hover over the element you would like to update and click the gear icon
  • Title of the element is the large orange text that appears above the image
  • Expand the "Design" section to update the image and descriptive text.
  • The Header Content holds the image below the orange text
    • Recommended Image Size: 520 px wide x 340 px high
  • Footer Content holds the descriptive text and optional link. Text and link use the normal text and normal link process.
  • Save element
  • Turn off compose mode and refresh the page to view the updates.
  • Publish the page if all looks well.

Social Media Panel

  • This is fed from our Feeds module. Each school can have 1 social media feed (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram). If a school does not have one of those accounts, this panel can be deleted or hidden.
    • To hide the panel, add "hp-feature hide" to the custom class area in the element settings for that whole section.
  • If a social media has been setup, hover over the social area and click the gear icon. Select the feed you would like to display and hit save.
  • Turn off compose mode and refresh the page to view the updates.
  • Publish the page if all looks well.

Social Icons above the social media feeds

  • Options are: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google Plus and Linked In
