AVID
The Orange Unified School District started offering AVID classes to its middle and high school students in 2013 in an effort to help support all students in their efforts to attend post secondary education. AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college. The program places special emphasis on growing writing, critical thinking, teamwork, organization and reading skills.
The focus for 2025-2026 school year is: ORGANIZATION
One of AVID's strategies is WICOR: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading. We at Chapman Hills have chosen to focus on one of these strategies to lay the groundwork for our students. From top down, you should see organization as a central focus on campus. From the moment students step on campus to the end of the day, students, teachers, and staff members will be vigilant in being organized this year.
