Principal's Message

Dear Roadrunner Families,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Canyon Rim Elementary School. It is a privilege to join such a vibrant and dedicated school community, and I look forward to partnering with you to ensure a joyful, enriching, and successful year for every student.

Although I am new to the Orange Unified School District, I bring with me 25 years of experience in education. I began my career as a classroom teacher, where I spent nine wonderful years before moving into a teacher specialist role in Educational Services for four years. I then served as an assistant principal for one year, and for the past twelve years, I’ve had the great honor of serving as a principal—leading with a deep belief in the power of relationships, collaboration, and high expectations for all students.

In addition to my role as an educator, I’m also a mom and wife. Our daughter, Mia, is heading off to college in Arizona this fall—a big transition for our family. As I begin this new chapter at Canyon Rim, I do so not only as a leader and educator, but also with a mother’s heart. I understand firsthand the hopes, worries, and dreams we carry for our children, and I will lead with that same care and commitment in serving your families.

Throughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to creating safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments where every child can thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential, and I look forward to getting to know you, listening to your hopes for your children, and working together to build upon the strong foundation already in place at Canyon Rim.

My door is always open, and I welcome your input, questions, and ideas as we begin this school year together. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your principal—it is a responsibility I take to heart, and one I embrace with great enthusiasm and care.

Warmly,

Rebecca Norwood, Ed.D

Principal, Canyon Rim Elementary School
