ORANGE, Calif. – Orange Unified School District is proud to recognize Nohl Canyon Elementary School student Aashi Sen Austin, who will represent California at the prestigious Future Problem Solving (FPS) International Conference and World Finals at Indiana University next week.
Aashi earned the opportunity after winning the California Future Problem Solving competition, distinguishing herself among students statewide through innovative thinking, research, and community impact. The international competition will bring together participants from more than 40 states and 11 countries.
Aashi's award-winning project, Project VIBE, focuses on supporting the mental health and well-being of children experiencing homelessness. Inspired by her volunteer work at the Thomas House Family Shelter, Aashi created a program offering engaging dance classes for children living there.
Through Project VIBE, children participate in weekly dance sessions where they learn new skills, express themselves creatively, build friendships, and gain confidence in a positive and supportive environment. The program was designed to help children manage stress, stay active, and experience a sense of belonging.
Project VIBE reflects the Future Problem Solving program's emphasis on identifying real-world challenges and developing actionable solutions. Aashi's work demonstrates how young people can make a tangible impact in their communities through compassion, creativity, and perseverance.
Orange Unified School District congratulates Aashi on this remarkable achievement and wishes her success as she represents California, Nohl Canyon Elementary School, and the Orange community on the world stage.
