As part of our ongoing commitment to communication, we want to ensure that all families and community members are informed about the Consolidation Committee's progress and the upcoming Board presentation.
The Consolidation Committee began meeting on April 28 and worked through June 2 to analyze district data and develop thoughtful consolidation options. The committee includes certificated staff (OUEA), classified staff (CSEA), parents, and site administrators representing each high school feeder pattern.
The committee conducted a thorough review to ensure that options are fact-based and focused on enhancing student programs:
- Enrollment & Capacity: Current enrollment, demographic projections, and long-term sustainability.
- Facilities: Building conditions, modernization needs, and operational costs.
- Transportation & Location: Geographic proximity, route efficiency, and safety factors.
- Educational Programs: Dual language, special education, GATE, Title I, and Transitional Kindergarten programs.
Our consolidation study is designed to enhance educational opportunities through strategic resource allocation, ensuring long-term sustainability.
District staff will present findings and data-driven options to the Board of Education on Wednesday, June 18, at 3:30 p.m., prior to the regularly scheduled Board meeting. The presentation will include consolidation options, implementation considerations, program enhancement plans, and next steps.
We encourage community members to attend or view Board meetings, which are available virtually. Together, we are working to ensure that schools are strong, sustainable, and continue to provide excellent educational opportunities for all students.
