The California Honor Roll, presented by ERP as part of the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE), recognizes top-performing schools and districts that are successfully preparing students for college, career, and life. The Honor Roll uses only objective student achievement data from the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) to identify schools that demonstrate academic excellence and improvement across all student groups, including historically underserved populations.

“Being recognized as a California Honor Roll District is a reflection of the hard work, commitment, and collaboration of our educators, staff, scholars, and families,” said Superintendent Rachel H. Monárrez, PhD. “This recognition highlights our ongoing focus on academic excellence for all and a culture of continuous improvement, and we are proud to see so many of our schools honored for ensuring our children thrive.”

Approximately 21 percent of eligible schools and districts across California earned a place on the 2025 Honor Roll. Honor Roll designations are divided into two categories:

  • Star Schools and Districts – those serving student populations with 33 percent or more designated as socioeconomically disadvantaged.
  • Scholar Schools and Districts – those serving student populations with fewer than 33 percent designated as socioeconomically disadvantaged.

The California Honor Roll is produced by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and presented by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE), in collaboration with business leaders and 28 Chambers of Commerce throughout the state, including the California Chamber of Commerce Foundation for Commerce and Education, California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and California Black Chamber of Commerce.
