Orange Unified School District Appoints Matthew Witmer, Ed.D., as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services

Orange, CA – September 16, 2024 – Orange Unified School District proudly announces that the Board of Education approved the appointment of Matthew Witmer, Ed.D., as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. With an impressive career spanning over 28 years in public education, Witmer brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.

Witmer’s extensive background includes currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Walnut Valley Unified School District. His diverse experience encompasses roles as a teacher, site administrator, district office administrator, assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent, and chief operating officer.

“We are pleased to have Matthew join the Orange Unified family,” said Superintendent Ernie Gonzalez. “His extensive background in education and deep commitment to student success make him an invaluable asset to our team. We are confident that his contributions will enhance our efforts to further the District’s mission of providing exceptional services to our students, staff, and the broader community.”

Witmer’s experience extends across many areas of educational services, including curriculum and instruction, building strong relationships with educational partners, social-emotional learning, instructional technology, student safety, early learning, and career and technical education. The District eagerly anticipates the positive impact he will make in his new role.

La amplia trayectoria de Witmer incluye su cargo actual como Director de Operaciones en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Walnut Valley.
