Crescent Elementary Robotics Teams Score at Southern California Regional Competitions

Orange, CA – January 30, 2020 – Orange Unified is proud to announce Crescent Elementary’s Robotics teams scored well at regional competitions this past weekend. Robotics Team 15A, Crescent Scoring Machines, won the Excellence Award at El Rancho Middle School. Team 15B, Cougar Bots, won the Alliance Award and the Skills Award at a regional competition in Tustin. Both teams are advancing to the VEX IQ California State Competition in March.   

Coached by Crescent teacher Jennie Bond, Team 15A Crescent Scoring Machines includes students:  Niyati, Sree, Summer, Ian, Wesley, John, and Anika. Team 15B’s Cougar Bots include: Matthew, Maanika, Omer, Riley, Sophia, Noah and Sarah.

"We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our Teacher Advisor Mrs. Bond as well as the time contributed by our parent volunteers to support our students so they can do their best," stated Principal Shelé Tamaki.   "Our strong Robotics program demonstrates 21st Century learning to increase and strengthen student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education while preparing our students to be college and career ready.”
