Message Regarding Former Employee's Social Media Comment

The Orange Unified School District (OUSD) stands strongly against hate-speech, discrimination and racist behavior. Particularly when it comes to the students in our charge. We embrace diversity and inclusion as some of our highest core values. We counsel and train our team to embrace and live these values in their interactions on campus.

Social media allows for the free expression of opinion that can be insensitive and hurtful to others. OUSD was alerted to the online comments of a former employee that were in this vein. We are deeply disappointed that these comments were made and assure the many community members who have contacted us that we are aware of this incident and take the issue very seriously.

While the user has not been an employee of OUSD for some time, we will use this as a teachable moment for our hundreds of dedicated and caring team members that we are all responsible for our actions online and in the classroom. We thank the community for bringing the matter to our attention.
