Anaheim, CA - November 11, 2019 - Imperial Elementary School is granted $5000 by the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim through the Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund (DVCF). The DVCF awards grants to local non-profit organizations that are nominated, selected and funded by Disneyland Resort cast members.

Imperial was nominated by Jennifer Chiya, a Sales Manager with Disney Youth Programs overseeing Youth Education. Ms. Chiya is invested in the Imperial community as a PTA member and parent. Her daughter, Charlotte, is a second-grade student at the school. Imperial’s PTA president, Teresa McClary, applied for the grant with the intention of utilizing the funding to update Imperial’s kindergarten playground equipment.

As stated in the grant application by Mrs. McClary, having new, updated & SAFE playground equipment will improve social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Thus, improving attention span and listening skills during classroom time. Outdoor physical activity and free play on playground equipment promotes the health & wellness of children and improves their body and mind.
