Crescent Elementary Hosts VEX Robotics Southern California Regional Tournament

Orange, CA – December 10, 2019 – Orange Unified is proud to announce that Crescent Elementary hosted a regional VEX Robotics competition this past Saturday. There were 24 teams participating from throughout Southern California, including teams from Glendale, North Hills, Porter Ranch, Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa and Anaheim. Two Orange Unified VEX Robotics teams from Crescent Elementary, the Cougar Bots and Scoring Machines, have qualified to compete at the VEX IQ State level.

“We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our Teacher Advisor Mrs. Bond, who coordinated this regional event, the time contributed by our parent and staff volunteers, and the Canyon High School and El Rancho students who came to support as well,” stated Principal Shelé Tamaki. "Our strong Robotics program demonstrates 21st Century learning to increase and strengthen student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education while preparing our students to be college and career ready.”

This is the seventh consecutive year that robotics teams from Crescent Elementary have a been competing and winning at the state and national levels.
