Press Release

Athletic Facilities Update: April 2019

Canyon HS: Turf installation is complete. Track surfacing began on April 4 and will continue through the end of the month. The project was scheduled for completion by early March, but project completion has been delayed due to the significant rainfall earlier this season.

El Modena HS: Architectural firm Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) is working with the Aquatic Design Group on a new 30-meter swimming pool complex to replace the existing aging 25-yard facility. A new contract with HED for the complete project design is on the agenda for review at tomorrow’s (4/18) board meeting.

Orange HS: Phase I of the track & field project is complete, and the facility is currently in use. Once Track & Field season activities conclude mid-May, the site will be closed for ADA site work to be completed over the summer.

Villa Park HS: The District and Consultants are currently testing and surveying the new VPHS track and field amidst recent concerns. Once the field and track are certified, the facility will be open for use.

Fred Kelly Stadium: All site buildings have been demolished and grading/excavating continues at the site. Rain has slightly delayed the construction process; the project is still on schedule to open prior to 2020's Graduation Ceremonies.
