Villa Park High School Spartans Inspire Kindergarten Students at Serrano

Villa Park, CA – November 1, 2018 - Villa Park High School collaborated with Serrano Elementary to promote literacy last week by having Spartan football players read Halloween-themed stories to students in both Kristi Jimenez and Jessica Koehler’s kindergarten classes.

Villa Park High School Football Coach Dusan Ancich brought eight starters that he knew would be comfortable in front of a class to interact with and inspire the kindergarten students, most of whom will likely attend Villa Park for high school.

“The football players were awesome!  They read to the kids, even changing their voices for different characters in the story,” said Jimenez. “To see the five and six year-old students look at these big, tall high school students with such admiration in their eyes was incredible.  The connection Villa Park’s Spartans made with our youngest Serrano Eagles was something wonderful!”

The event was the first of its kind for the two schools.
