Villa Park High School Girl’s Golf Named 2018 CIF Southern Section Academic Team Champions

Orange, CA – May 9, 2018 – We are pleased to announce that Villa Park High School’s Girl’s Golf has been selected as 2018 CIF Southern Section Academic Team Champions.  The team’s collective grade point average was 3.92 on a 4 point scale - the highest in the enrollment category of 1500 or more students.

The Girls’ Spartan Golf team was honored at the Academic Awards ceremony earlier this week at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Team members accompanied Head Coach Chris Salio onto the playing field to represent Villa Park High School (VPHS) in receiving a championship banner during the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Baltimore Orioles pre-game ceremony.

“We are so pleased to share these achievements by our student-athletes with our community,” stated VPHS Athletic Director Tom Fox.

“These amazing student-athletes continue to represent not only the over 1,200 student-athletes on campus, but also set an exemplary example of academic achievement for all 2,400 students that comprise our associated student body,” continued Principal Ken Miller, Ed.D.

After tabulating the grade point averages for all sports, Villa Park High School had 12 out of 22 Varsity Sports qualify for Top 20 grade point average status in the CIF Southern Section.

Villa Park High School wishes to recognize and thank all of the fine teachers, coaches, students, families and community stakeholders who have supported these amazing achievements.
