Anaheim Hills Elementary's VEX Robotics Competitive Teams Advance to the World Championship

Orange, CA – March 22, 2017 – Orange Unified is proud to announce that two Anaheim Hills Elementary School VEX Robotics Competitive teams have advanced to the VEX IQ Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky.

At the California State VEX IQ Elementary School Championship, both Anaheim Hills Elementary teams won the Teamwork 2nd Place Award, qualifying them to attend the World Championship. In addition, Team 10746C The Vexperts won the STEM Research Project Award.

Coached by Raquel Archung and Steve Ho, Team 10746C The Vexperts members include Blake Archung, Ryan Dadant, Aryan Khemani, Christopher Sotelo, Ryan Tietje, and Trevor Win’E. Team 10746B The Gummy Bears members include Avery Archung, Alexis Fields, Maylene Hall, Vivienne Ho, Katherine Martinez, Mairead Schoch, Piper Schultz, and Chloe Schurter.

Based on World Skills Rankings, The Vexperts are currently ranked second in the state of California, sixth in the U.S.A., and seventh in the World. The Gummy Bears are ranked fourth in California, tenth in the U.S.A., and twelfth in the World.

Both teams also competed at the Ladera Ranch and the Chadwick tournaments. The Vexperts won the Excellence Award, 2 Teamwork Champion Awards, and 2 Robot Skills Champion Awards. The Gummy Bears won the Teamwork Champion Award and STEM Research Project Award.

Sponsored by the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation, VEX IQ competitions utilize Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education to increase and enrich learning, giving students valuable teamwork and problem-solving experience.
