Student Takes First Place in the Elementary Division of The Stock Market Game

ANAHEIM, CA — April 21, 2016 — Orange Unified School District is proud to announce that Canyon Rim Elementary student Eric Chow won first place in The Stock Market Game’s elementary division and 22nd overall. Through their Stock Market Game portfolio, students buy and sell real world stocks, mutual funds, and bonds. This round of The Stock Market Game began in February and ended in the first week in April.

Eric’s portfolio showed that by the end of the trading season his initial investment had increased to over $129,000. He will be recognized for his achievement at Cetera Financial in El Segundo on May 9.

Eric also participated in InvestWrite, a culminating activity of The Stock Market Game. This essay competition prompts student to think critically and write about financial issues or current events that could affect real-world investing. Winners of the InvestWrite competition have not yet been announced.
