Orange Unified State Preschool Programs Recognized for Excellence

Orange, CA – June 10, 2016 – Orange Unified School District is proud to announce that the District’s Part-Day State Preschool was recognized at the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) Excellence in Early Care and Education Awards last month. The program received the Five Star Achievement Award and recognition for the quality preschool program at Jordan Elementary.

OCDE bi-annually rates participating programs using QualityStart OC’s Quality Rating and Improvement System. All candidates must commit to focus on high-quality across all program practices, which includes attending trainings, receiving coaching, and using program quality assessment information to create site continuous quality improvement plans. A maximum of five stars can be awarded based upon the level of quality above the minimum required by the state for all licensed programs. Each OUSD Part-Day State Preschool program received a Certificate of Excellence for attaining the highest rating in quality.

Jordan’s Part-Day Preschool was additionally honored with the Child Signature Program (CSP) Award. Jordan Preschool has been part of CSP for the past three years, receiving additional funds, resources, and support to staff and families, resulting in an increase of Jordan Preschool students’ development and school-readiness.

OUSD’s State Preschool is currently open for enrollment for the 2016-17 school year. Programs will be available at Cambridge, Esplanade, Fairhaven, Fletcher, Jordan, Lampson, Palmyra, and Sycamore. For more information, please call the Early Learning Center at 714-628-5577.
