Monthly EDGE Recognition

“YOU’VE GOT THE EDGE” Employee of the Month Recognition program has been designed with the District’s Core Values in mind. This program encourages outstanding customer service in the workplace in fulfillment of the District’s new Strategic Plan. It increases awareness of the goals and values as well as the importance and significance of outstanding performance.

Certificated and Classified employees who have been nominated by their peers, co-workers, and/or supervisors are selected for exemplifying the following core values:

  • Integrity - We embrace a culture of ethical and transparent decision-making and actions.
  • Equity - We promote inclusive and culturally relevant environments by supporting the social-emotional and intellectual needs of all.
  • Respect - We advocate for strong, compassionate relationships that appreciate the unique qualities of our diverse community.
  • Excellence - We strive for the highest standards in all endeavors by deliberately pursuing continuous growth and innovation.

The recipients of the “YOU’VE GOT THE EDGE” award for March 2023 are:

Amanda Campbell, 4th Grade Teacher at Palmyra Elementary School, and April Watson, Library Media Technician II at Nohl Canyon Elementary School

Both Amanda and April go above and beyond to serve the staff and students of the Orange Unified School District in ways that reflect the core values of OUSD’s EDGE.

 

Palmyra Principal Christina Bletterman had this to say about Amanda:
"Amanda represents Palmyra in so many ways:

  • She is a positive, influential force on campus. She promotes Palmyra by leading our social media.  She is a PTA representative and helps bridge communication between parents and teachers.
  • She is an outstanding GATE teacher. Her instructional skill creates innovation for students, challenges their thinking, and prepares them for their future. She goes over and above to meet all the needs of all students.
  • She helps lead our Peer Assisted Leadership students by instructing them on what leadership is and how to practice it.
  • She has led Anti Bully Week, Kindness Week, Peer Mediation, and much more.

Amanda represents all our Core Values in OUSD."

 

Nohl Canyon Principal, Jeff Jones, had this to say about April:
"April exemplifies all four of OUSD's Core Values.  Her determination to provide equity to all students and staff has been displayed throughout the school year.  April has been a rock star in collecting and distributing all 1:1 devices, preparing textbook materials for teachers, and preparing her library for students to attend.  She works extremely hard, all the while keeping a calm composure throughout each day.  April is goal-oriented, solution ready, and innovative with providing students access to the library.  April is a wonderful teammate with our office staff and teachers and provides a wonderful library environment for our students.  April also demonstrates the core value of EXCELLENCE in her strive for personal growth, along with her willingness to support Nohl Canyon with many a variety of duties. Nohl Canyon is thankful to have April on the team!"
