Kathleen Losi, 4th Grade Teacher and STEM Lead at Crescent Elementary was recognized by Principal Shele Tamaki with an EDGE Challenge Coin for exemplifying Focus Area 1.0 Excellence in Academics and Leadership: Leading with a positive growth mindset, all Orange Unified staff emphasizes meaningful, productive interactions and practices that create equitable, high-quality learning opportunities.
She had this to say about Kathleen:
Kathleen Losi has done an outstanding job as our Site STEM Lead. She has kept staff abreast of curriculum developments with the new science adoption (Amplify) and is a steady source of support for our staff with science training and information. She makes herself available as the "go-to" person for her colleagues whenever they have science questions, increasing their confidence to start this new program in their classrooms. During the time our school was without a Library Media Technician, Kathleen stepped up and quickly organized all the incoming science materials with swift distribution to our teachers in time for a major training coming up so our teachers would be prepared for the PD. It is this initiative and taking the lead that helps our district achieve successful implementation of a major new adoption such as this one.
