
Daily attendance at school is mandated by California State Law until the age of eighteen. Attendance is calculated in the district by actual physical presence by the student. No pupil is permitted to leave school at recess or any other time before the regular hour of closing without the approval of the school principal or designee. Violations will be considered as truancies (E.C. 48200).
Reporting a Student’s AbsenceParents of elementary and middle school students are urged to notify the school office by 8 a.m. on the morning of any absence, or as soon after that as possible. Also, parents should phone the school each morning thereafter until the student returns to school. At the secondary school level, parents should send a note with their student explaining the absence on the day they return. (E.C.46012; C.A.C.306). Absences that are not cleared within 3 days shall be recorded as in-excusable. Vision StatementFletcher Elementary will be a school that envelopes itself in the learning process by encouraging academic development by students, parents, and staff. High standards in all areas will be the norm and will drive all parties to take pride in their work; students will feel motivated to produce quality work; teachers will be engaged in preparing and delivering creative lessons; parents will want to volunteer in the class and participate in PTA; the custodian will constantly monitor the campus to ensure its safety; the support staff will work side by side with teachers to meet the needs of the children; the office staff will establish positive communication with parents and make them feel welcome; and the administrator will facilitate change and support teachers by soliciting input to develop school goals and objectives. State standards will be the focus that drives our curriculum and instruction. The teachers will be knowledgeable of these standards and work collaboratively to develop plans to meet them in all subject areas. The needs of all students will be addressed and everyone will be treated with respect. Our students will want to come to school and the teachers will be excited to teach them. Our classrooms will be filled with accomplishments, and the feelings of success and pride will permeate the Fletcher campus.
