Media Center/Library

The Media Center is a laboratory where students and teachers are involved in class activities as well as individual research. Students coming to the Media Center must have a specific assignment, such as:
• Individual pursuit of information
• Choosing recreational reading materials
• Prescribed instruction

The Media Center is open from 7:30 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. for students with specific needs.

Students returning to class before the end of the period must have passes signed by the librarian.

Eating and gum chewing will not be permitted in the Media Center.

The librarian will limit the number of books checked out to a student if they are all on one subject.

Students will check out books with their student I.D. cards.

Current magazines and newspapers are to be used only in the Media Center.

Reference books may be checked out overnight and must be returned before school the following day. Students must return their books promptly when due. If a student fails to return a book, a reminder will be sent.

Computers are to be used appropriately for curriculum related purposes or as permitted by the librarian. It is necessary to ask permission to use the computers. Student I.D. cards must be displayed in the slot provided on the computer monitor.

Student use of the Internet is limited to curriculum purposes only or as permitted by the librarian. Students using the Internet must ask permission, and will log in and out. Students using any computer inappropriately will lose media center computer privileges for the remainder of the year.

The Media Center should be a quiet place to work, book browse, listen, view, or read for pleasure. To show courtesy and respect for others, students are asked to be quiet while in the Media Center. It is not to be used as a student lounge or visiting area at any time.

Textbooks
All books that are issued to students must have some type of book cover on them with proper identification inside. It is the responsibility of the student to see that these books are properly cared for and that precautions are taken to prevent their loss or damage by other students. Students will be held responsible for payment to cover lost or damaged books. A fine will be charged for writing in texts.
